Ensure Your Pile Gets Picked UpAvoid missed green waste pile pickups by making sure your pile meets the following guidelines: - Place piles at least 6 feet away from items such as carts, basketball hoops, and parked cars. The tractor claw will not pick up piles if it is inaccessible or unsafe to do so.
- Place piles only in front or adjacent to (for corner lots) your own property. Commercial properties do not receive green waste services, so if you place your pile across the street near a school, apartments, or business, the pile will not be removed.
- Place piles out no more than 7 days prior to service day. Piles placed on the street for long periods of time have the potential to dry out and turn into fire hazards, or for neighbors to add to them rendering them too large to pick up.
- Place only accepted material in the pile. Palms, cactus, trash, and pet waste in your pile are not accepted at the compost facility where green waste is taken to. Remove these items to avoid the pile being left behind.

Save Water and Money with Rain BarrelsFall is the perfect time of year to bring new additions to the garden. To water your plants, consider installing a rain barrel. With a rain barrel you can capture water from a roof and hold it for later use such as on lawns, gardens or indoor plants. Collecting roof runoff in rain barrels reduces the amount of water that flows away from your property and saves you money on your water bill. The City of Woodland offers rain barrel rebates for up to 2 purchases for $75 each! Visit EnviroWoodland.org/Rebates to learn more.
