Drought

Woodland City Council Rescind Stage 2 Drought Restrictions

Due to the easing of drought restrictions by the Governor, the Woodland City Council ended the Shortage Level 2 of the City's Water Shortage Contingency Plan (WSCP) on July 18, 2023.

Although this most recent water shortage emergency is officially over, California is no stranger to drought and the City continues to support long-term water use efficiency efforts. Woodland water users are encouraged to:

  • Run your irrigation system with shorter times more frequently. This allows soil to absorb even more water and help reduce runoff. Watering 3 times per week is recommended.
  • Water your landscape before 10am or after 6pm to reduce water loss from evaporation.
  • Sign into AquaHawk, to see how much water your account uses by the hour, day, or month. Plus, you can set up leak alerts and billing thresholds. Get started at EnviroWoodland.org/MyWaterUse - FREE to all Woodland customers.

By using our resources efficiently, we can prepare and adapt to future periods of droughts. For questions about the drought or tips on how to conserve water, contact our Water Conservation Program at (530) 661-2067 or e-mail conserve.water@cityofwoodland.org.

Foodcycler is Empowering Woodland Residents to Reduce Food Waste

Have you purchased your FoodCycler yet? There’s still time to join the dozens of Woodlanders who have already started turning their Food Waste into fertilizer using the Foodcycler, including our staff.

EnviroWoodland purchased a unit and we have been impressed with how quiet and odorless the unit is while running it in our office. The resulting fertilizer can be mixed with soil in a 1:10 ratio of fertilizer and garden soil. We’re looking forward to seeing our gardens thrive as a result of these added nutrients!

If you’re interested in getting the FoodCycler, you can purchase the unit at an exclusive discount at fcs-events.com/Woodland and then apply for a $200 rebate through the City of Woodland.

Hurry! The exclusive discount ends on September 30, and rebates are first come first serve.

Oil Change Valve

Free Oil Change Valves and Kits at C/10 Intervention

EnviroWoodland is thrilled to be attending the C/10 Intervention car show in downtown Woodland on September 3, 2023, from 8 am to 1 pm where we will be giving away FREE Fumoto oil change valves and oil change supplies to Woodland residents!

If you’re a fan of DIY Oil Changes, these valves are for you! They replace the standard oil drain plug with a spouted valve that can be easily opened and closed during an oil change. With a simple flip of a switch, these valves allow for a clean and controlled oil drainage process, eliminating the risk of splattering oil on yourself or the ground. Once drained, the valves lock securely in place and stay closed.

We will also have funnels, oil rags, and oil absorbent mats to help complete your clean oil change.

The items are first come, first served. One item per person, with proof of Woodland residency.

Join the Climate Action Survey: Shape Our Sustainable Future

The Yolo County Sustainability Division needs your input for their 2030 Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP) Survey.

What's the CAAP? It is the roadmap to achieve a carbon-negative footprint by 2030, with a focus on equity and justice to combat climate change and become more resilient to its impacts, such as wildfires, floods, and drought.

Why should you participate? This is YOUR chance to shape the CAAP! Your responses will guide the County in designing funding programs, policies, and recommendations to lower emissions and protect our environment. This survey:

  • Takes about 10 minutes to complete
  • Closes on September 22, 2023
  • Participants can enter a drawing for gift cards and prizes!

To take the survey, visit tinyurl.com/CAAPSurvey (English) or tinyurl.com/EncuestaCAAP (Spanish).

Spread the word! Share the survey with friends, family, and your networks. Together, let's build a greener future for Yolo County!
