Sustainability Advisory Committee News

The committee will be holding their next meeting on September 20 at 6pm.

Free Workshop

Free Water-Wise Landscape Design Workshops

We are offering three workshops that will help you create a water-wise garden. With the help of expert gardeners, you can create a yard that not only conserves water but can also help reduce your water bills!

Plant Your Ideas Workshop on Saturday, September 23 at 9am-11:30am: Thinking about replacing your lawn? In this workshop, garden experts will help you design a custom, water-wise landscape plan for your front yard.

Greywater Flow to Grow Workshop on Wednesday, October 4 at 5pm-7pm:  Learn the basics, and design considerations for laundry and shower greywater systems. Find out which plants like greywater best and how to determine if greywater is right for you.

Just Add Water Workshop on Saturday, October 28 at 9am-11am: Get your hands on drip irrigation parts and learn how to create a water-efficient irrigation system design for your landscape.

Free Compost at the Yolo County Landfill

Time to get your hands dirty because the Yolo County Landfill is giving away FREE COMPOST! 

Turn your garden into a lush paradise with this nutrient-rich goodness available from September 1-October 31! This is a self-serve program, so please bring enough shovels and buckets to take as much as you need.

Yolo County Central Landfill is located at 44090 County Rd 28H. Hours of operation are Monday – Saturday, from 6:30 am to 4 pm, and on Sundays from 8 am – 4 pm.

Is your teen ready to take on the world of adulthood with confidence? Join us for “Adulting 101: Life Skills for Teens,” a special event brought to you by the City of Woodland Public Library and Yolo County Office of Education on Saturday, September 9 from 8:30 am – 3:00 pm at the Woodland Community and Senior Center.

This year, we're excited to present “Sustainability Tips for a Greener Tomorrow” as part of the event's first session. Join EnviroWoodland to discover practical ways to make a positive impact on the environment through recycling, composting, and water & energy conservation.

Compost Pail Event

Exciting Update on Our FoodCycler Program!

The response to our FoodCycler program has been absolutely astounding! While our rebate program funds have been fully utilized for now, we're delighted to share that the FoodCycler discount is currently active and will continue until September 30th!

We also still have funding available for our other fantastic rebates such as mulch, rain barrels, weather-based irrigation controllers, and street trees.
