• Before making purchases, think about the necessity and longevity of the items. Opt for quality over quantity to reduce waste.
• Instead of buying gifts that your loved ones may not need, consider purchasing gifts for families in need through a local 'Adopt-a-Family' program. Do this in the name of your loved one and invite them to join you for a fulfilling afternoon of shopping
• Edible gifts can be a great present, especially if they’re packaged on reusable or recyclable dinnerware. 
• Avoid buying flocked Christmas trees, metallic/glittery wrapping or tissue paper, and wrapping paper coated in plastic since they cannot be composted or recycled.
