Waste Management of Woodland Proposed Solid Waste Removal Service Rates September 2025

On Tuesday July 15, or as soon as possible thereafter, the City Council will hold a public hearing in the City Council Chambers to consider adopting increases to the rates for collection and handling of solid waste, recycling, and organic waste services within Woodland.

Below, please find detailed calculations for every proposed rate. These proposed rates would go into effect on September 1, 2025.

Comparing Existing & Proposed RatesProposed Updated WM Rate Comparison 2025Residential Service Structure

  • Rate is based on garbage volume: 35-, 64-, or 96-gallon
  • Bundled service includes one (1) recycle cart, one (1) organics cart, and street sweeping.
  • A second recycle cart and a second organics cart can be provided at no additional cost.
  • A per additional cart rate applies for the 3+ recycle and/or 3+ organics cart.

Why Bundled Service?

Many haulers and jurisdictions in California bundle their garbage service with recycling and organics, not only to encourage proper sorting by material type, but also because, per state law, all customers need to have access to all three waste streams. Bundled service ensures that residents are "defaulted" to the required three services.

Example New Rate Calculation, Effective September 1:

Our most common non-low-income customer has a 64-gallon trash bin, meaning they currently pay $40.03/month or $80.06 every two months. Under the new agreement increase, this bill would increase to $42.60/month or $85.20 every two months.

The proposed new bill will be a “bundled rate” that will include:

  • Trash service
  • Recycle service
  • Yard waste/organics service
  • Street sweeping service
