Biography
Deputy Chief Dallas Hyde was hired by the Woodland Police Department in August 2000 as a Police Officer Trainee while he was attending the Sacramento County Law Enforcement Academy. Upon his graduation from the academy in January 2001, he was sworn in as a full-time Patrol Officer.
DC Hyde has worked a multitude of assignments since joining the Woodland Police Department; School Resource Officer, Detective, Senior Detective and Patrol Corporal. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2015 and shortly after he took over as Sergeant of the Yolo County Gang Task Force.
In 2017, DC Hyde was assigned as the Community Relations Sergeant which included internal affairs, recruiting, training management, and running the Social Media Team. Social media has been a large part of DC Hyde's career as he was responsible for starting the department’s Facebook page in 2014 which he ran for many years by himself and is still a member of the team.
DC Hyde returned to Patrol in 2020 and took over the FTO program. DC Hyde was also a member and former team leader of the Crisis Negotiations Team (CNT) and was on the Honor Guard for many years.
In October of 2022 DC Hyde was promoted to Lieutenant and was assigned to the Patrol Bureau. As a Lieutenant, DC Hyde oversaw the FTO program and took over the department’s Fleet Management.
DC Hyde has received numerous accolades over the years including the MADD award (2001), 10851 Award (2002, 2003), Officer of the Year 2006), Woodland PD Meritorious Service Award (2007), Police Chief’s Leadership Award (2019) and the Woodland PD Community Service Award (2020). In June 2022, Dallas graduated from the 282nd session of the FBI National Academy, a distinction achieved by only about 1% of law enforcement professionals.
DC Hyde was promoted to Deputy Chief in December 2023.
Education
DC Hyde attended UC Davis, Yuba Community College and the Union Institute and University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in 2014.
