Fellow Accomplishments

Brittany Joe | Geographic Information Systems Technician, Administrative Services 

Brittany conducted field survey work and data validation at the City Cemetery to create a GIS dashboard that details historical figures in the Woodland Cemetery.

Jennifer Manseau | Climate and Equity Analyst, City Manager's Office

Jennifer created a Sustainability Dashboard to articulate the City's Climate Action Plan progress, an American Rescue Plan (ARP) Community Hub to highlight the City's ARP investments, and a Housing Policies and Projects page to showcase the City's housing progress.

Jesus Rodriquez | Utilities Engineering Assistant, Community Development – Engineering Division

Jesus supported water quality test result analysis and regulatory compliance, the Sewer System Management Plan, and the Recycled Water Project.

Eduardo Velasquez-Solorio | Community Outreach Specialist, Fire

Eduardo created an inventory of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), designed and distributed educational materials on Hands-only CPR and AEDs to the public, and watched several Fire building inspections and Fire investigations.

Monika Lepe | Community Services Program Specialist, Community Services Department (CSD)

Monika helped support program development for Spanish-speaking seniors by developing a survey for the Woodland Senior Center, forming partnerships with key regional organizations, and laying the groundwork for a Spanish-speaking senior social group

Jessica Rodriguez-Soto | Parking Enforcement and Public Safety Fellow, Police Department

Jessica helped address abandoned vehicles by enforcing parking codes, issuing warnings, and responding to vehicle complaints and inquires, and helped receive, process, and store property and evidence.

Evelyn Mandujano & Barbara Silver | STEAM Maker Camp Co-Leaders, Library

Evelyn & Barbara prepared for and ran the day-to-day operations of the 6-week STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, & Mathematics) Maker Camp in Square One, a summer camp focused on STEM activities for youth.

Eliana Villanueva | Outreach Coordinator, Public Works

Eliana developed a survey for customer outreach following fieldwork by public works staff.

Elected Officials Panel

Fellows had the opportunity to have meaningful interactions with elected City Council members and Yolo County Supervisor Board members. They had the opportunity to ask questions regarding background, career journey, their experience as an elected official, and more.

Fellows engaged in substantive conversation with Department Heads. They had the opportunity to ask questions regarding background, career journey, their experience as a public servant, and more.

Nonprofit Field Trip

Fellows took tours of local nonprofits that serve the Woodland community including the Woodland Food Closet, The East Beamer Neighborhood Campus/Fourth & Hope, AgStart, and Advance Peace.

Fire Station Visit

Fellows took a tour of Fire Station 3. They learned about The Woodland Fire operations and were able to ask questions regarding the fire service, learn what a career as a firefighter entails, and see what makes Woodland Fire unique.

Square One Library Visit

Fellows learned about the Woodland Public Library's unique history and explored the many resources available including books, adventure packs, and the Square One Makerspace, which features laser cutters, 3D printers, a woodshop, electronics, and more.

Water Pollution Control Facility Visit

Fellows had a tour of the Woodland Water Pollution Control Facility. They learned about the water treatment process within the city and the Pollution Prevention Program.  

YoloWorks! Professional Development Workshop

Fellows attended a workshop run by YoloWorks! staff at the YoloWorks! Career Center. Workshop topics included resume review, interview practice, career roadmaps, etc.
